3 eggs
2 cups of sugar
3 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 cup of milk
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional, but adds great flavor)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and butter until light and fluffy.
Add the milk and vanilla extract, and mix well.
Gradually add the flour, stirring until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
Finally, add the baking powder and mix gently.
Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan (medium bundt or rectangular pan).
Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until golden. Do the toothpick test: if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then unmold.
